The Climate Change Commission (CCC) is mandated to ensure that gender mainstreaming efforts are included in the country’s National Strategic Framework and Program on Climate Change.

This gender mainstreaming effort was reinforced through the adoption of the Philippine National Climate Change Action Plan (NCCAP) 2011-2028 that has the ultimate goal of building the adaptive capacities of women and men in their communities; increase the resilience of vulnerable sectors and natural ecosystems to climate change; and optimize mitigation opportunities towards gender-responsive and rights-based sustainable development.

Furthermore, the Philippines has set up the Php 1 billion (almost USD20M) climate adaptation fund known as People’s Survival Fund that will finance climate change adaptation programs and projects that is responsive to gender-differentiated vulnerabilities.
