Climate Change Commission Secretary Robert E.A. Borje pays a courtesy call on Kumamoto Mayor Kazufumi Onishi at the sidelines of the 4th Asia-Pacific Water Summit in Kumamoto City, Japan on April 24, 2022.

Secretary Borje congratulated Mayor Onishi on the successful hosting of the Summit. Secretary Borje also highlighted the importance of local government action for climate change adaptation and mitigation and resiliency, citing Kumamoto as a leader in these two key areas.

Secretary Borje was joined by Consul General Voltaire Mauricio of the Philippine Consulate General in Osaka with jurisdiction over Kumamoto prefecture.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte designated Secretary Borje as Special Envoy and personal representative to the 4th Asia Pacific Water Summit.
